And A Happy New Year!
An unbelievable 2006 has passed… it’s a whole New Year now. Welcome 2007!
Today I look in retrospect and found something to share with you.
Remember the turn of the century from 1999 to 2000, where many prophesized that the world was coming to an end? Many people died* as a result of these ‘prophesies’, unknowingly beknowst to them that the world is very much alive and life still very much goes on.
When the world didn’t end back then, despite the massacres (we obviously had a larger pool of intelligent/stubborn/rebellious/life-loving people)… the rest who were alive ‘prophesized’ that for exactly two thousand years to pass since Christ, it would be 2001. So there again, we have from 2000 to 2001 - the “rightful” turn of the century. More massacres.
*Many people died because there were charismatic leaders who led them to believe the world was coming to an end. In one of the massacres, these people were persuaded to sell all their belongings and dedicate their life on the last day of the year. When everyone was gathered, the church compound holding them up was set on fire and needless to say, there were no survivors.
I look back today and “feel” the turn of the year once again. It’s 2006 going on 2007. The world is more alive than ever, with more of our kind being born every minute of every day, and with lower mortality rates, too. Enjoy life today. Celebrate it. Celebrate life today.
“I love my life, and I love my wife. And I wish you, my kind of success.” - Dicky Fox, in Jerry Maguire.
